BLVD EATERY - Mount Barker - The Boulevard Eatery

Adelaide Hills Coffee Scene

BLVD EATERY Mount Barker

The Adelaide Hills are alive with the sounds and aromas of freshly ground and brewed coffee.

Over the last few weeks I have been visiting some of the bistros and cafes in the Adelaide Hills and there is a distinct buzz to be heard around the cafes' brightly coloured espresso machines.

Degroot coffee  has featured a few times on my travels.

Degroot coffee roasters are located at Port Elliot on the Fleurieu Peninsula, and their coffee - which has a smooth rounded profile - is being served at the BLVD Eatery as well as at Lady Luck Café, both in Mount Barker.

One recent Monday morning, I was able to take some visiting friends to the BLVD Eatery and we all enjoyed a late big breakfast.

Our friends, who are trying to eat Keto, ordered a modified breakfast and we ordered two more big breakfasts for ourselves, straight off the menu…

... Please note - when I say big I mean ‘BIG’ breakfast.

My wife and I struggled to finish the meals - but they were so good that we enjoyed them right to the end.

Meals were quickly followed by a Degroot lactose free flat white in a mug

The Colombian coffee was rewarding with a good finish. Even the decaf version was enjoyable

Everybody enjoyed the atmosphere and tranquil surroundings, which were conducive to conversation.

The BLVD has easy access ramps for prams and walking frames, and a great lawned outdoor area for families.

I could see autumn leaves on the ground on our visit, and am sure that in the autumn the outdoor area looks even more magnificent.

There's a nice water feature and colourful art scattered around the walls and a cosy fireplace as well.

For comfort on the warmer days there's a large decorative fan outside over the deck, as well as heating for the cooler months.

The staff were very friendly, and Katie - the manager - was very attentive to our needs, even welcoming our friend's dog.

Our orders were taken professionally and completed promptly, with great presentation.
Receipts can be digitally provided where required.

Katie tells me she has regular patrons, including families, enjoying the coffee and facilities on the weekends and midweek - when the mums find some respite there.

BLVD has a relaxed feel, where you can take a break from the fast pace of life.

An easy drive up the freeway - take the Mt Barker exit or alternately take the Bald Hills Rd exit and come in from the other side of Mt Barker into Spring Lake.

I can highly recommend BLVD EATERY - Mount Barker for great coffee and professional service, with a good selection of fresh food on the menu.

I give it 5 out of 5 coffee cups

The Pina Colada Song - Have you forgotten what your purpose is?

The Pina Colada song - Have you forgotten what your purpose is? Me and my old lady have fallen into the same old dull routine Remember The Pina Colada Song? I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long Like a worn-out recording, of a favourite song Have you forgotten why it is you went into business to start with? Please don’t say - I wanted to work with food for a living  Please say - I wanted to help people, to give great service, to meet people of different cultural backgrounds and to communicate with others and learn their different stories.  I wanted to make a difference, to have flexibility in my work week, a good work life balance and job satisfaction. I wanted to offer customers something they couldn’t get elsewhere. To build relationships. Yes, you wanted to make money, and maybe in your business you can do quite well. But if your customer’s don’t feel they can rely on you, have similar values, and feel good about their purchase, then this will reflect in your ...

Let's Do Coffee

Let’s Do Coffee -   If the doors are open, you're in business . Nothing annoys me more than a coffee shop that doesn't serve coffee. I love a good cup of coffee. I'm not fussy, a latte, a flat white or a nice cappuccino. I just need my shot of espresso every few hours. Now I make a pretty mean cup myself, even enjoying roasting a few beans to use at home, but I still like to go out with friends for a cuppa Joe sometimes. You could say I'm a social drinker. If someone is offering one, or suggesting we grab a cup, I'm up for it. Its my one vice. What really annoys me though,  is when I show up at a cafe an hour before closing and they've already run a cycle through the machine and are refusing to make me a coffee. Why are the doors open if I can't get a coffee? Atmosphere Or, what about when you're having a late coffee and they start slopping water everywhere and dragging  tables and chairs across the floor as they clean? Making an awful racket.  'H...
